Russia increased production of gold by 40,6% (up to 38,435 tons) for 5 months of 2002 compared with the same period of last year. This information was given by Valeri Goncharov - head of Prices and Calculations department of the State Treasury. According to his words "3,954 t. out of total volume is co-produced gold and 823 kg. - secondary produced gold". Volume of mined and produced gold is gradually growing up. Within 3 months this growth made up 3,4 tons of gold; within 4 months - 7,8 tons; within 5 - 11,103 tons.

Goncharov says that during 2002 up to 175 tons of gold will be produced. In 2001 Russia made 154,3 tons of gold, 141,5 of them recovered by gold producers.
