Polymetal subsidiary Nothern Urals Gold hit the annual plan ahead of schedule and has mined 3 tons of gold since the beginning of 2002 at Vorontsovskoye deposit (Sverdlovsk region). By the end of the year total volume of mined gold at Vorontsovskoye deposit will make 3,3 tons that exceeds plan figures by 10%. At the same time Nothern Urals Gold was significantly ahead of schedule in auriferous ore fill meant for further processing by the heap leaching method. Instead of planned for 2002 600 thousand tons of the company filled 750 thousand tons. Thus a good stock for winter period of operations has been made.

Apart from other gold producing enterprises Nothern Urals Gold as well as Polymetal is not going to stop operations in winter. Polymetal was the first Russian company to create and apply a unique technology of winter heap leaching. It is carried out with the help of intrastack irrigation and heating of process solutions in the heat exchangers. After the completion of experimental period of this method launch, which had begun in 1997 at Murtykty deposit in Bashkiria, this technology was applied at all Polymetal subsidiaries where heap leaching is used.

Due to this, mining enterprises can produce precious metals in different climatic conditions all year round. Vorontsovskoye deposit is located in Krasnoturinsk district of Sverdlovsk region. Its development began in 1999. Mineable reserves of the deposit make 76,4 tons of silver and 62,4 tons of gold.

Polymetal Inter-Regional Research and Production Association takes the first place among Russian silver producers and is in the list of top ten gold producers. It is also one of the most hi-tech mining companies of the Russian Federation. Polymetal is a part of IST group of companies. IST also includes open joint-stock company Baltiisky plant machine building plant Titran and some other enterprises.
